Rx4NJ Launches Multi-Media Ad Campaign to Promote Access to Free, Low-Cost Prescription Drugs
HILLSIDE, N.J., Jan. 13, 2005 /PRNewswire/ -- A multi-million dollar, multi- media advertising campaign promoting access to free and low-cost prescription drugs through "Rx4NJ," a new patient assistance program, kicked off this week in various media outlets in New Jersey. Rx4NJ was announced last week by a broad coalition of healthcare groups, patient advocacy organizations, and pharmaceutical and medical technology companies in New Jersey.
The campaign -- which includes TV, radio, print ads, billboards, posters, bus signs and direct mail -- began airing on electronic media outlets January 12. Print ads will begin running January 13, bus signs January 24, billboard postings begin January 24 and direct mail will start January 27. The TV and radio campaign includes significant time buys in the New York and Philadelphia media markets and on local New Jersey cable systems and radio stations, running for nearly two months into March. The campaign will also launch a parallel paid media program for Hispanic audiences on television and radio and in print advertising, direct mail, and outdoor advertising.
Based on the theme that prescription help is just a "click" or "call" away, the multi-media campaign targets urban residents and minorities, segments of New Jersey's population most likely to need and be eligible for free or nearly free prescription drugs available from the hundreds of government and pharmaceutical industry assistance programs linked to Rx4NJ.
For example, bus signs, in English and Spanish, will be targeted to run in four counties -- Hudson, Essex, Passaic and Camden counties -- that are considered urban centers, highly populated by minorities. Also, a total of 54 billboards will be posted in 11 counties, targeting minorities in urban areas, senior communities and main thoroughfares.
"To ensure that we reach as many eligible New Jerseyans as we can, the Rx4NJ partnership has made an enormous investment in a broad and sophisticated advertising campaign to get the word out that help with prescription drug costs is now just a call or click away," said Bob Franks, president of the HealthCare Institute of New Jersey (HINJ), which represents the pharmaceutical and medical technology industry in New Jersey and is one of more than 40 sponsoring partners of Rx4NJ.
"In the coming weeks, New Jerseyans will be seeing and hearing a lot about Rx4NJ," said Franks. "They'll be seeing the Rx4NJ license plate logo and Rx4NJ toll-free number and Web address on TV, on billboards, on buses and in their mailboxes, and hearing about it during drive time on their radios."
The Rx4NJ media campaign is patterned after successful advertising campaigns in New Jersey, targeting families and individuals who may need prescription assistance. The campaign was produced and is being managed by Public Media, a New Brunswick-based communications and message firm with extensive experience in political and public affairs campaigns.
Rx4NJ -- sponsored by more than 40 healthcare groups, patient advocacy organizations and pharmaceutical and medical technology companies -- will serve as a "one-stop" clearinghouse, providing easy access to more than 300 patient assistance programs (PAPs) and more than 1,400 prescription medicines for free or on a discounted basis. It is the first patient assistance program targeted specifically to New Jersey residents.
